An exciting opportunity exists with this fast growing manufacturer of bespoke artisan breads, pies, cakes and confectionery, this position is suitable for a highly experienced Bakery Manager whose main responsibilities will be baking, general management, hiring and training staff.

The successful person will have previous know-how of baking in large quantities, able to create new products, have an eye for aesthetics, all the baked goods must be very appealing to customers, as well as the ability to merchandise the baked goods, with excellent quality control, strict cleanliness and safety standards are essential.

In this role the Bakery Manager will:

Be responsible for staff management of 124 staff.

The bakery manager will  oversee baking staff to ensure the bakery’s high standards . Making sure bakery staff comply with customer service and safety policies. The  bakery manager will be in charge of hiring, developing and terminating bakery staff.

Important functions will be :

The bakery manager will be responsible for ensuring the profitability of a bakery. It is essential that he will operate within the confines of the bakery’s budget.  An excellent knowledge of budgeting, pricing of baked goods and tracking sales, labour and inventory costs are required. Creating and maintaining a budget,  basic accounting skills, are essential with  prior experience.

The Bakery Manager’s involvement will be the overseeing inventory which will be a main responsibility. Inventory ordering and rotating ingredients such as flour, sugar, and butter;  receiving as well as unloading deliveries . Tracking inventory,  calculating the proper amount of ingredients necessary for production of baked goods on a given day or week. The person will  have good numeracy skills. The bakery manager must keep an eye on demand for each kind of pastry, breads and confectioneries to know how much to supply.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Package offered R 216 000 PA to R 264 000  PA  Negotiable

Qualification:  A minimum of a Grade 12 certificate and a relevant tertiary qualification in Production Management/Food technology advantageous.

Will be Computer Literate using  MS Office Suite.

Excellent Communication skills both written and spoken.

Very good attention to detail.

Operate in a fast paced environment.
