Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for supply chain management? We have a client that is seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Manager to join their Supply Chain team in KwaZulu-Natal. Reporting to the Supply Chain Executive, this role offers an exciting opportunity to drive supply chain planning, procurement, risk management, and leadership initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Planning & Strategy:

  • Manage working capital investment in stock, including slow-moving and dead stock.
  • Plan finished goods with relevant teams to prevent stock outs and short supplies.
  • Efficiently manage raw material inventory to align with Just-in-Time principles.
  • Drive continuous improvements to eliminate waste and streamline processes.

Procurement and Vendor Management:

  • Conduct supplier assessments to ensure quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts, SLAs, MOUs, and leases with suppliers.
  • Lead cost-saving projects across the supply chain.

Risk Management & Mitigation:

  • Identify and mitigate risks in purchasing and production planning.
  • Diversify suppliers to reduce dependency on single sources.
  • Develop contingency plans for unexpected events.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 9001/FSSC22000 supply chain procedures.

Data Analysis:

  • Identify patterns and trends to optimize supply chain processes.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to drive improvements.
  • Stay updated on market trends and emerging technologies in supply chain management.

Leadership & Training:

  • Lead cross-functional teams and projects, driving process improvements and change management.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the team, fostering continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Develop and deliver training material for relevant business areas.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CIMA qualification or BCom Honours Degree in Finance or Supply Chain Management.
  • At least 4-5 years’ experience in a commercial supply chain role, with a minimum of 3 years in a management role.
  • Proficiency with SAP is advantageous.
  • Strong negotiation, planning, and organizing skills.
  • Ability to influence others and solve problems effectively.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and self-energized.
